I Think Korean Military Service is a Good Thing and This is Why

When it comes to K-entertainment, I really am such a newbie. I’ve only been watching since January of this year, so I’ve had to learn a lot of things about a completely new culture very quickly, because I hate missing out on the jokes.

Okay, it’s also because I want to understand the culture, but I really, really hate missing jokes. Continue reading

4 Reasons to Watch the Japanese Drama Crisis: Kouan Kidou Sousatai Tokusou-han (Spoiler Free)

.2a87a4

At least once a year this inevitably happens. I start watching a Korean crime drama and get so pissed off at police stupidity that I start searching elsewhere for my crime trope fix. Sure enough, I started Criminal Minds and within an hour I was yelling, “Nope, nope, nope.” and searching for something else. Just so happens that my all time Japanese bias had released a crime drama earlier in the year and it was completely subbed! It is amazing the things you miss when you actually have real life interfering with drama addiction. But in this case, it is a great surprise since I can now binge the heck out of Oguri Shun’s newest show Crisis. And that, of course, means writing a blog post to try and encourage all of my amazing readers to give it a try with me. Drama enabling is alive and well here at DWASOK. Continue reading

Negative Side Effects of Kdramas

korean-drama-addictYes, I am 100% a kdrama addict. I watch them, obsess about the actors and actresses, blog about them, even dream about them. You get the picture. But it doesn’t mean I don’t see through the rosy glasses I wore when I first started watching. Just like American TV, Kdramas have their flaws but we love them anyway. Today’s blog is not really about those flaws in general, it’s more about a certain mental side effect I found myself having. It made me wonder if anyone else suffers from it as well. The Eternal Love Episodes 1-3 (A Positive Recap)

.;a1a2s4a4We’re back and checking out the latest Chinese web series craze that all of social media seems to be talking about. Namely, the web drama The Eternal Love. Did your mother ever tell you that if you don’t have something positive to say then say nothing at all? Well, we are taking that saying to heart and only saying positive things this time around. Sure that might mean that we spend a lot of time waxing poetic about the leading man’s hair. Or maybe there is a flower sitting in the background that we find quite winsome. No matter what, we will bite our lips and only be cheerful and positive for these recaps. Come hell or high water…..even if it kills us to contain our inner snark. Hmm, I think we all need to pray that this drama has a lot of positive and little negative if we are going to survive. So without further ado, let’s dive into the positive surrounding the first three episodes. Continue reading

Suspicious Partners Episode 39 & 40 (Final Thoughts)

.;a1a2s4a3We have finally reached the end of Suspicious Partner.  And while there were high  and low points in the plot, the writer has rewarded our patience with two final episodes of pure and total fluff.  Something I would usually be upset about, but with a cast that is the cutest fluffy cast ever, I will give it a pass and just enjoy the last hour of a relatively successful storyline.
