It took us a bit, but Kmuse and I finally found another Chinese drama to recap together. It’s funny because Kmuse liked one and I watched it and wanted to tear my hair out because of the cheese. Then I liked a different one and she thought the lead guy wasn’t attractive at all. The problem with recapping most Chinese dramas is they’re so dang long. It’s too much of a commitment for this working girl. But we happily landed on Memory Lost. It aired in 2016 and this last week Dramafever started putting up one episode every weekday. They originally aired three seasons, twelve episode each, for a total of thirty-six episodes. Continue reading
Wolverine! Sibling torture is THE BEST.
Ok, so I ended up getting frustrated with the slow subbing pace and missing subtitles at Viki and ended up subscribing to Kocowa for the month. So thanks for being patient with me and my delayed recap, drama fans. If you find yourself frustrated also, it’s $7/month for Kocowa and you don’t have to be locked into a contract. Just FYI.
But boy oh BOY, While You Were Sleeping is worth the frustration and extra streaming service!! Let’s jump into this episode, shall we?
We shift gears this week as we put the romance on the backburner and look at more important things. Like the fact that Hong Joo had a job. Huh? I don’t know why that surprises me. For some reason, I felt that waitress kind of fit the character but nope…. our leading lady is a star reporter who has taken a two-year hiatus from her job. Does this new plot twist work? Come join me as I discuss this as well as all my other favorite moments of episodes 9 & 10. Continue reading
More While You Were Sleeping! I’m so glad we get two episodes a week (four, if you’re counting them the way SBS does). There is so much in here to make my story snob heart happy. And, y’all, Woo Tak is my new favorite fictional human EVER. I’ll explain in a bit. Continue reading
I totally did not see where this story is taking us. Which is a good thing if you consider that after nine years of kdrama addiction, a person can sometimes become jaded when it comes to plot twists. Come join me as I discuss exactly what While You Were Sleeping is doing right as well as my favorite moments.
The drama continues with While You Were Sleeping episodes 3 and 4 (labeled as episode 2 on Viki. Why? I have no idea. *points to self* Maknae, remember?). Now we’re exploring the Cassandra effect in the lives of our two main characters and how they intersect, especially when one believes and one doesn’t. Wait, if you’re a Cassandra who doesn’t believe in your own prophecies, does that make you a Cassandra-inception? Hmmm . . . .
We are off to a wonderful start as While You Were Sleeping provides everything I love in a drama. Witty banter, heartfelt angsty backstory, with just a dose of romance, all combined to make the first episodes immensely enjoyable. Continue reading
Sometimes it is hard being positive. Especially when our favorite characters go all noble idiot on us. At least we had some highly anticipated deaths occur this week. In a positive comments only recap, you have to accept your silver linings wherever you might find them. Join us as we chat episodes 16-18 of The Eternal Love. Continue reading
Let’s address the slightly touchy, but totally obvious elephant in the room first. Ha Ji Won is 39 and Kang Min Hyuk is 26. Is there really going to be a believable romance between these two? I admit the age difference put me off, but I decided to give Hospital Ship a chance since Ha Ji Won has more than one drama example of awesomeness on her resume. So was it worth it? Continue reading
We’re back and checking out the latest Chinese web series craze that all of social media seems to be talking about. Namely, the web drama The Eternal Love. Not only are we recapping, but upon deciding that we were sick of having to pull apart dramas for our weekly reviews, we decided to take a different approach. Did your mother ever tell you that if you don’t have something positive to say then say nothing at all? Well, we are taking that saying to heart and only saying positive things this time around. Sure that might mean that we spend a lot of time waxing poetic about the leading man’s hair. Or maybe there is a flower sitting in the background that we find quite winsome. No matter what, we will bite our lips and only be cheerful and positive for these recaps. Come hell or high water…..even if it kills us to contain our inner snark. Hmm, I think we all need to pray that this drama has a lot of positive and little negative if we are going to survive. So without further ado, let’s dive into the positive surrounding the first three episodes. Continue reading
