Tons of casting news this week so instead of posting individually, I figure it is the perfect time for a new “Kdrama Gossip” post.  So join the fangirls as we chat about all the upcoming dramas.

STILLS &  POSTERS

-Descendants of the Sun-

KMUSE: Hasn’t it felt like forever since we first heard of the Descendants casting?  First we waited for Song Joong Ki to get out of the military, than it got green lighted to be completely pre-filmed, than it got pushed back, etc.  So over a year later we are finally getting the first stills even though we still have to wait til February for the premier.  But I love these stills (everyone is looking mighty fine) and I continue to have high hopes.

JENNIE: Bad things always happen when I get excited about a drama, but I will say I’m going to watch. Once again the military has done our leading man some good. And I’m happy they pre-filmed too so fans don’t ruin it as it airs.

JENKADDICT: This show is such a bitter sweet one for me. I’ve been dying to see Joong-ki in something new, but this writer usually rubs me the wrong way. I am super interested to see if this drama feels less Kdrama than most since it’s filmed all overseas and is pre-filmed. This is definitely one I’ll be keeping my hopes low but still really curious to see what the end product is.

TurtleMaknae: Ooo I’m excited for this one! I love JoongKi’s face acting. He looks good after going to the military! I’m really excited to see how this drama plays out as well.

-Remember-

KMUSE: While I am impatiently waiting for Yoo Seung Ho stills for upcoming drama “Remember”, Nam Gung Min (2nd lead) stills are second best.  I personally love Nam Gung Min as a bad guy (really hope he is a really bad guy…… it still is undisclosed).  Regardless of his evil tendencies, Nam Gung Min is looking rich and stylish.  I hope the stylist is equally as good with Yoo Seung Ho.

CLKYTTA: I love him as a bad guy, but a huge part of me really wants him to get the girl. Can he be a bad guy and still get the girl?

JENNIE: I like that idea. A baddie  with a soft side.

JENKADDICT: Namgoong Min is looking very sleek here. I have to admit, I prefer him as a total psycho bad guy. I think I read somewhere he is supposed to be bad and he gets his own girl. I’m super excited for the whole drama. I liked Park Min-young before Healer, but after that show she became one of my girl biases.

TurtleMaknae: Hot Bad guys deserve love too! I love his styling and it does look at least the part of a rich snob but a snob a bad guy does not always make.

KMUSE: Hmmmm I take back the fine fashion comment.  What is up with those pants in these stills?  I really hope there is a reason for that high water look.

JENNIE: Comic relief?

JENKADDICT: It’s totally comic relief. There’s no other explanation. LOL.

TurtleMaknae: ^Agreed. Unless they expect flooding and those a Prada pants or something.

-Imaginary Cat-

KMUSE: What would a gossip post be without a little Yoo Seung Ho?  With as many projects as Yoo Seung Ho is doing right now, it would be a shock to not see him sneak in somewhere.  This time we see a newly released still from “Imaginary Cat” and all I can say is this boy is looking good!  “Imaginary Cat” is all set to air on November 24th.

CLKYTTA: He has so much charisma, I think he’s the only one who could make a project called “Imaginary Cat” work.  I’m not 100% sold on the idea, but I’m 100% sold on him!

JENNIE: OMO! Nerd glasses!! <3 <3 I’m tentatively excited for this one. Which probably means it’s going to suck. Praying that it doesn’t!

TurtleMaknae: I’ve seen some other stills from this and oooooooooo he fine! I’m like CLKYTTA on this not sold on story but will watch if only for SeungHo. Military did him wonders too.

-Madame Antoine-

Synopsis:

Ko Hye-Rim (Han Ye-Seul) is a famous fortune-teller. She is known as “Madame Antoine” and insists that she is spiritually connected to Marie Antoinette, but that part is a lie. She is able to see through people’s stories due to her intelligence and keen sense. She dreams of having a romantic love like in the movies.

Ko Hye-Rim then takes part in a psychological test project conducted by psychotherapist Choi Soo-Hyun (Sung Joon). His goal is to prove that true love does not exist. Coincidentally, the name for his psychological treatment center is Madame Antoine.

KMUSE: While I am still not totally sold on this drama, things are going full forward in the filming aspect.  Up above is the script reading photos and I am sure stills are soon to follow.  Marie Antoine is set to air on November 27th.

CLKYTTA: I’ve mentioned before that I love Sung Joon, I’ve watched all his cute puppy parts in “I Need Romance 3” more times than I should admit, but I wasn’t impressed with his last drama.  I’m also not sure about this pairing, but I will watch it and hopefully it will all come together.

JENNIE: No one hate me, but I’m not a Sung Joon fan. I still haven’t finished Shut Up Flower Boy Band because of him. I know, I should be ex-communicated from the Kdrama fandom. I did like him in I Need Romance 3, but that’s the only drama of his I’ve been able to stomach. However, if I hear good things I’ll give any drama a try.

JENKADDICT: I’m probably skipping this one. I LOVE Sung Joon. Or at least I love him in SUFBB. LOL. Since then the only drama he’s been in that I’ve finished was I Need Romance 3. He’s definitely moved to the category of actors that I have to like the premise of his drama before I’ll check it out, and this one just doesn’t peek my interest.

TurtleMaknae: So I’ve only seen SungJoon in SUFBB so I can’t tell whether or not I like him as an actor. I’m not sure about watching this one. The premise sounds meh. I mean if you are intelligent and have a keen sense then why be a “psychic”? Why not a PI or a detective? (American show Psych gets a pass because it’s hilarious) Also the name is weird.

CASTING NEWS

-Joo Won – “Love Express”-

KMUSE: Joo Won is expanding into the Chinese entertainment market and has accepted the lead in upcoming Chinese drama “Love Express”.  There is not a lot of info as of yet, but will also star Chinese actors  Deng Jiajia, Zhenyun Qiao, Shiu Hung Hui, and Monica Mu.  I am sure I will be keeping you updated since I love Joo Won and have started to really get into Chinese shows. 

JENNIE: I’m guessing he’ll be voiced-over? Not sure I can watch if that’s the case. Then again, I did make it through most of Yong Pal because of him. 😉

JENKADDICT: I’m with Jennie about hesitating because of the voice over. I have a really hard time with that. But this is supposed to be a period drama, and Joo Won rocks that type of role, so I might check it out.

TurtleMaknae: It’ll be voice over, it has to be. They did it to Siwon and Donghae in Extravagant Challenge. I love Joo Won but voice overs throw me off. I’ll wait for you guys to tell me how it goes.

KMUSE:  I usually don’t mind voice-overs (enjoyed Extravagant Challenge), but this will be the first time it is with someone I really have in my top bias list.  We will have to see how much I notice.

-Lee Joon Ki & Kang Ha-Neul – “Moon Rivers”-

KMUSE: Lee Joon Ki asked to play the 4th prince, or the Joseon equivalent?  Yes please!  For those of you not in the know, Lee Joon Ki has confirmed that he is taking the lead of the Bu Bu Jing Xin (Moon Rivers) remake.  This is a drama about a time traveling heroine who gets stuck in historical Asia and falls in love with two princes who are in a battle for the throne.  Sadly, I am sure they are going to really tweak the story because heaven forbid a girl love two different men (rolling my eyes a tad).  Also I am sure there will be less princes in this version (they had around 20 or so) in the Chinese version since that King really liked to have children and place them against each other.

It is things like this that make me worried for the remake.  I loved the original and the fact that she went through phases of love (with multiple men) in her life. With that gone, I almost hope they just do their own take and not try to follow the original too closely.

KMUSE: Now with a talented leading man  we need an equally talented leading lady.  I am especially nervous since Lee Joon Ki always seems to have mediocre luck in the ladies department.  It’s not that I all out hate any of them, but they don’t seem to be at the same level of LJK.  I am not sure I could stand watching some pretty vase ruin this story, even for Lee Joon Ki in a hanbok.

Playing his brother, and romantic rival (I am assuming this will be the character he plays), will be Kang Ha-Neul  who has also confirmed for the project.  I love both men so much and really anticipate some great drama coming our way.

CLKYTTA: I’m very excited to see Kang Ha-Neul in this.  He seems to pick good dramas, or at least dramas that I find interesting, so I’m absolutely watching this one.

JENNIE: I’m watching for KHN, too. He’s one of my top biases so I’ll watch anything with him. When is he going to get a lead role already?!?!??

JENKADDICT: Okay, I love me some Lee Joon Ki in hanbok, so I’m in. I suffered through most of Scholar Who Walks the Night for him. Though, I think just watching his Instagram posts while he was on set, was more entertaining. The one I’m super curious about is Kang Ha-neul. I can’t wait to see him in a sageuk. He has a lot of potential depth as an actor and I’m excited to see it being used for a role like this. Let the time slip trip begin!

TurtleMaknae: I like Kang HaNeul! Does this mean he gets a lead role or is he still a second lead? either way I’ll give this one a shot! I like historical dramas, if they don’t drive me up a wall with crazy or boredom.

KMUSE: TurtleMaknae……he would be a 2nd lead.  However in the Chinese version the first half of the drama mostly focused on him and it was only as the characters aged that the leading lady moved her affections to the 4th prince.  HOWEVER, this being a Kdrama (and the one love only law) I highly doubt we will be seeing him get any lovin anytime soon.

KPOP & OST

-B.A.P-

KMUSE: I was called out last time for focusing only on VIXX in the last gossip post.  So in order to make it up to Nikki, I decided to give B.A.P a shout out this time.  I am loving the feel of their new teaser for “Young, Wild, & Free” and can’t wait to see the whole MV.  It might even inspire me to put together a Kpop post sooner than later.

JENNIE: AHHHH!!!! Himchan!!! *Fangirls Everywhere* So excited! BTS and 2NE1 are coming back this month, too. My feels and my wallet are both overloaded.

TurtleMaknae: *PTERODACTYL SCREECHES* I don’t want to die but November comebacks….TT^TT I’m so happy. B.A.P has been through some sad stuff and I’m glad everything got sorted. I was really hoping that they’d fix everything and comeback soon! I’m so glad they are back! The kings are back! Also I like the idea of doing a November kpop Comeback post since like everyone is coming back in November.
