Casting News

Lee Jong Suk & Han Hyo Joo – W

FotorCreated.jpg

SYNOPSIS: Hyojoo’s character is a surgeon; her father is a doctor but also a comic book artist in his free time. Jongsuk’s character is the main character in that comic. One day, she finds out that the main character will be killed off and enters the world of comics to save him.

KMUSE: This drama sounds like so much fun.  I love how quirky and out of the box the premise is.  And we all know that Lee Jong Suk is awesome at playing quirky characters.

CLKYTTA: Are you guys old enough to remember A-ha’s video to Take On Me?  That’s exactly what came to mind as I read this synopsis.  Since that’s one of my favorite videos of all time, and I love Lee Jong Suk, this is absolutely on my radar.  I love the whole idea behind it, except I’m trying to wrap my mind around the whole doctor thing.  Is that going to be some kind foreshadowing, like in reality LJS is actually real and one of her father’s patients?

Joo Won – My Sassy Girl (Saguek Edition)

b19.png

SYNOPSIS: Based on the 2001 movie “My Sassy Girl,” but set in a historical time period.

KMUSE:  I keep having to remind myself that I have not seen Joo Won in a Saguek before (Bridal Mask was at a different time period so not technically a Sageuk).  So I am really excited to see how he pulls one off. I just hope they choose a strong co-star for him.  I think I am going to be pretty nervous until she is cast and then I can decide if I am excited or upset.

CLKYTTA: What KMUSE said, I need more info on the cast before I’m excited for this one. Also, are they running out of plot ideas?  Isn’t there also a contemporary remake of “My Sassy Girl” coming out? Or am I just confused? KMUSE: They are coming out with a new movie. Same leading man who gets into a new relationship after the girl from the first movie dumps him.  Sounds like a trainwreck.  I will skip that and watch Joo Won be cute and adorkable.

Park Hae Jin – Man to Man

b2

Synopsis: A drama about a special bodyguard with a background in special investigations and the Hallyu star he is supposed to protect.

KMUSE:  They had me at Park Hae Jin.  Not to mention I need him in a new drama to wash the bad taste of Cheese in The Trap from my mind.  I have also been a huge fan of the majority of the dramas JTBC has put out this last year.  They have really upped the bar for their drama quality.

CLKYTTA: Thank you Park Hae Jin for quickly jumping back into the drama waters so we can all rebound from the catastrophe that was Cheese in the Trap.  I’m very excited to see him play something that isn’t a chaebol.  I also think his ability to play more stoic characters will really work well here.  I’m still seething from him being overlooked and underused in the last drama, so I’m ready to watch him knock our socks off in this one.

TEASERS & TRAILERS

Oh Hae-young Again

SYNOPSIS: Story follows two women with the same name of Oh Hae-Young and a man who has the ability to see the future and tries to get away from the two Oh Hae-Youngs.

KMUSE: I have given up on believing TvN previews that promise me romantic hijinks.  Bubblegum was the last straw (there were no hijinks………..NONE.  The promos totally lied to me.)  That said, Seo Hyun-Jin  just makes me laugh.  She is awesome and I can’t wait to see her in something new.

CLKYTTA: I can’t decide if I’m going to watch this one or not.  I’ll have to wait and see what everyone says after this one starts.

Master: God of Noodles

SYNOPSIS: A story of a man who learns how to make noodles for revenge. Moo Myung cleans noodles as he prepares for his own revenge on others who make him suffer. ~~ Based on a Korean manhwa “God of Noodles” by Park In Kwon.

KMUSE: OK, I am going out on a limb and stating that I might not watch this one.  Nothing from the title to the promos is clicking with me.  Just not feeling it.  Maybe I will change my mind when it starts, but right now I am firmly feeling “Meh” about noodle revenge.

CLKYTTA: Is he poisoning someone with these noodles?  Is he learning patience and honing his knife skills?  I don’t know, and honestly, I’m not sure I care.  I can safely say I’m not watching this one.

Stills & Script Readings

Entertainer

KMUSE: Is it just me or is Ji Sung looking  younger?  Fatherhood is obviously agreeing with him.

CLKYTTA: Yes, he looks younger, a happy family life and increased popularity obviously agree with him.  I love his playfulness, he just makes me happy.

Master: God of Noodles

KMUSE: Still meh.

CLKYTTA: Meh times two.

That’s all for now.  So much drama in our future.  I can’t wait to actually see the shows and see if our predictions are right.  See you next time for our Side of Kdrama gossip and I hope all our readers have a Kdrama filled weekend.

  1. Honestly, the only one I’m looking forward to is Entertainer. After Kill Me, Heal Me, I’ve become a fan of JiSung, and I just want to watch more of his dramas. I already watched on of the dramas trailer and it was a bit vague yet funny. Can’t wait for more to be released soon. 🙂

  2. There is a rumor going around that there is a remake of 1 Percent of Anything in the works slated for broadcast this year. I hope it’s true as I think this show could be great updated and with some changes. I liked the original but it definitely had flaws. In the right writers hands, though, I think it could be changed to an enjoyable show.
