Fangirl Stalking: Seo In Guk

fotorcreated2

It has come to my attention from several of our readers that I have been remiss in doing a Fangirl Stalking post for my ultimate bias of all time Seo In Guk.  It isn’t because I don’t love him (as we all know that I do) but just the thought that I write about him so much that I might annoy people with my fangirl exuberance.  But obviously that is not the case since we have had requests so without further ado……here are my thoughts on Seo In Guk’s filmography!fotorcreated3

The Rules of Fangirl Stalking:

We will start with the dramas I think are must watch works by the actor.  Followed by the shows that could go either way.  This means that they are worth watching in my opinion, but I know there are some people who don’t like the genre.  Lastly, we will cover the dramas/movies that you really could skip and not miss much (at least in regards of the actor/actress featured).  These are the shows that are for die-hard fans who want to watch everything.  So let’s jump into obsessing about Seo In Guk!

Watch ASAP!

Answer Me 1997

I have watched this drama from start to finish more times than any other drama (14 times to be exact) and it has definitely remained a favorite.  It combines humor, romance, and slice of life storytelling for a unique and memorable drama.  Not to mention that Seo In Guk’s character Yoon Jae truly is the perfect package.  If you don’t believe me, check out the hilarious SNL Korea skit that is all about how to become just like Yoon Yoon Jae.

King of High School Savvy

1a68

With an amazing cast, brilliant soundtrack, and hijinks galore, King of High School Savvy is the perfect Rom-Com for any occasion.  I will admit that some people have issues with the age difference but it didn’t personally bother me so it goes on my “must watch” list.  I loved every minute and also believe this drama has some of Seo In Guk’s best skinship scenes to date.  The sling kiss still takes my breath away anytime I watch it.

Shopping King Louie

My Second “must watch” recommendation is also a rom-com although this time it involves a sexy sweet chaebol who gets amnesia and has to learn to live on a budget.  But before you start getting upset at the overused chaebol/amnesia/rags to riches tropes be assured that this first-time screenwriter has managed to make every moment of this drama seem new and fresh.   If you want something high in romance and Seo In Guk than this is the drama for you.

I Remember You

Serial Killers, separated siblings, and bromance all combine to make this story one of my favorite dramas of all time.  You never know what to expect when you are watching and the interaction between the three leading men took dysfunctional to a whole new level.  So if you are looking for a show that is heavy on the bromance and dead bodies then this is the drama for you.

Depending On My Mood

 38 Task Force

I appreciated how this drama went out of the usually tropes to create something different.  However, I am not sure everyone can get past the lack of romance and complicated multi episode cons to really enjoy it…hence its location on my list.

Another Parting

1a10a

Seo In Guk plays an alien who is on a mission to look hot…..oops.  I mean he is on a mission to find out why humans cry tears.  But he really does also look really hot in this five episode web drama.   My only complaint is that it was too short to really delve into his character’s hotness development.

The Master’s Sun

1a72

I love this show.  Sadly, Seo In Guk is not the lead so that is why it is in the “depending on the mood” category.  I was also slightly worried at how thin he looked but thankfully he seems to have put on some weight since.

For the Die Hard Fans

 The King’s Face

1a73

The King’s Face is proof that not even Seo In Guk can save a drama with a weak plot and mopey leading lady.  I finished the show but would urge anyone out there reading this to give this drama a skip.

Rascal Sons

1a74

This drama has the distinction of being the only Seo In Guk drama that I dropped.  I couldn’t get into his cheating scummy character and after 10 episodes I didn’t even care if he became a better person in the end.  This drama is a huge “meh” for me.

BONUS Seo In Guk

As an added bonus I thought I would share my favorite music videos featuring my #1 bias.  Since not only is Seo in Guk a stellar actor but he also has a thriving musical career.  So in no specific order, please enjoy some musical Seo In Guk.

With Laughter or Tears (Sad romantic song that makes me want to watch a chick-flick is always a winner.)

Seasons of My Heart (SQUEEE! The kisses)

OMG (Collaboration with Double K.  Who knew SIG could rap?)

Would You (Duet with Swings)

Loved You (Duet with Zia and one of my all time favorite Seo In Guk song)

Shake it Up (Early SIG )

All For You (Answer Me 1997 OST Duet)

OK… I better stop since I could literally go for hours talking about the awesomeness that is Seo In Guk.  I hope you enjoyed this edition of Fangirl Stalking and be sure to let us know who you would like to see stalked in future posts.  You never know, your bias might be our next stalkee.

Til our next stalking adventure,

Kmuse

  2. hahah die hard fan indeed. i watch kings face coz i wanna watch inguk be crying n kingish. n rascal son. took me awhile to start watching it. n i push to watch his kiss scene n the sweetnesthat seungi is. sofa kiss… KYAAK!!!

  3. truth to be told, i didnt realized he was in master’s sun (oops! XD)..

i started to became a huge seo in guk fan from high school king of savvy, watching reply 1997 after that seal the deal for me!

it was when i was squeling on how much i love this guy and my friend pointed out he was in master’s sun too that i realizes i totally missed him out in the drama (sorry gukkie!).. yes, he was skinny thin in the drama, i believe he was also filming a movie No Breathing during the drama production..that might be the reason for his significant weight loss.. i couldnt watch the movie past 10 mins because i’m scared he’ll break..

i love how his acting continues to improve each time he takes up a new drama! he’ll be dearly missed during his military service.. sobsss..

  4. Seo Inguk yay! I have been waiting like forever for this! I have watched all of his dramas, well except Rascal Sons and No Breathing but believe me, even though the dramas doesn’t fare well, Seo Inguk consistency in potraying his characters are really daebak. I have liked many Korean actors, but no one made me fall so deep like what Seo Inguk did to me. I can watch him all day, even all he does is lying around doing nothing. 2016 has been such a great year for my bae, and I can’t wait for him to finish his MS. Been dying for his new single too! Love BeBe, squeeee!

  5. Totally agree with your post. How you categorized his shows is the same with me.. King of High School is my favorite among all his works..Reply 1997, Shopping King Louie and I Remember You are all must watch shows if you want to fall hard to Seo In GUk.. Hehehe..

You forgot to include Love Rain. although he was just a supporting actor there, but his OST “Fate” on that show and the scene wherein he sang Fate while Yoona is crying is my fave scene. And that was his first drama. And also No Breathing, I love that film.

I’m really glad whenever I saw someone who is also fan of Seo In Guk..

  6. I love your post! Watched and re-watched most of his dramas ❤❤❤
I agree with your for die hard fan! 😊😁 I enjoyed watching Seungi and his childishness but I do not think I can do it again, I got annoyed by other characters so I just watched Seo In Guk’s part. I cannot imagine how I finished The King’s Face, the first part was interesting but it went downhill after the war.☹

  7. Great post! I’d agreed with most of it but I haven’t seen The King’s Face or Rascal Sons but will take your advice and probably skip it. One cameo of Seo In Guk’s that is worth an Honourable Mention is his scene in episode 16 of ‘Oh My Ghostess’. He steals the scene and looks hot!

  8. Wait how did my comment disappear?
I remember i already commented on this post 🙁
Whatever I’m gonna unleash my inner In Guk’s fangirl once more.

It’s interesting how everyone really love Reply 1997 but i don’t.
My first encounter with Seo In Guk is shopping king louie.
Because i can’t forget louie i go to his wiki page, then i read the plot for high school king. Replacing someone trope is never boring. And that’s true, Seo In Guk as Minsuk is really funny. It have some similarity with my beloved Louie.

Then i watch Task Force 38, I’m really satisfied watching In Guk conning people, leading the team perfectly and handsomely, handsome is important.
A perfect kdrama about con team without any romance.

These three kdramas are dramas that I’m interested because the plot sounds interesting.

Back to Reply 1997 i decided to watch this because i see a video of Seo In Guk telling audiences “How to be Yoon Yoonjae”
That checking kiss and washing underwear makes me interested :v
I thought there is some erotic moments of In Guk there but man I’m disappointed 🙁

What did i don’t like about this drama?
First, the old vibe. I don’t really like oldies movies or dramas but I’ll watch because of Seo In Guk.
It’s not anyone’s fault tho, just my preferences.

    Second, the scenes are jumpy.
It’s like when I’m really engrossed in a scene like when Yoonjae accidentally grab Shiwon’s breast then suddenly they’re filming about something else.
I’m like “WHAT HAPPENED? DID SHIWON SLAP YOONJAE? WHY DO U CLIFFHANGER ME NOOOOOO YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME” 〒_〒
They do this all the time until i gave up on following the plot and decided to just enjoy Seo In Guk without thinking about anything else. Who cares about plot?

Third, Yoonjae’s character isn’t anything special. I think Yoonjae is just a cold boy crushing on his best friend and doesn’t confess because he doesn’t want to lose her as a friend. Not really special for me.

My favourite scenes in this drama is just seo in guk’s sexy moments and Shiwon’s fanatic fangirling.
