It has been a while since I have had that classic sageuk feel when watching a teaser.  By classic, I mean the whole childhood trauma story leading into larger than life hero.  But I am really feeling that vibe right now while watching the 1st teaser for Rebel Jong Gil Dong.

** Synopsis:  Set during the reign of famous tyrant King Yeonsangun, it tells the story of Hong Gil-dong, the illegitimate son of a nobleman who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, and his journey in becoming Joseon’s first revolutionary activist.

I am a huge fan of this style of storytelling, despite the chance of main characters dying and leaving me with a sad ending.  It will be interesting to see if the show goes that route or if they will continue with the happy conclusion endings that are currently in vogue.
