Oh Show, you are such a tease. Leading up to this episode they plastered photos of our OTP (One True Pairing) gazing into each other’s eyes looking as if they’d finally kiss. And we all waited with bated breath as one of the best sexy gazers seemed like he’d finally take that next step. Seriously, if I ever met Hyung Sik I’d just want him to stare at me all day long. But alas, he is way more patient than I am. Let’s talk my six favorite things about this episode. And they all circle around our cute as a button couple. I’m following in KMUSE’s footsteps and getting the not so fun stuff out of the way.
# 6 Bong Soon Show Down
Whoever they have doing Bong Soon’s stunt work is awesome. Our pint-sized King Kong takes care of about fifty guys in speedy fashion while Dumb and dumber sit behind a table and watch. She not only uses her strength, but she pulls from all the training Min Hyuk has given her and is a total bad ass. And she does it with so much sass. I love her!
Somehow Min Hyuk figures out where she is (that part is lost on me, or maybe I just don’t remember from last week) and Gook Doo arrives shortly after. They run into the warehouse in time to see Bong Soon dispel of the last few thugs before all she’s left with is Dumb and Dumber. Dumber stupidly tries to take her on too, but is easily handled.
Toothless has been hiding in the shadows and decides to disobey orders and use a weapon. He lurches at Bong Soon with a knife and both boys see him. They run to her rescue. Instead of tackling him, Min Hyuk throws himself in front of the knife and is stabbed in her place.
#5 Silk PJ’s and the Cutest Faker Ever
I think the writer wanted to get Hyung Sik in silk PJ’s so they had him stabbed. Nobody else thinks that?
Min Hyuk’s stab wound isn’t that deep, but you wouldn’t know that from the way he acts every time Bong Soon is in the room.
It’s worth it though because every time she worries about him, he gets the biggest most adorable smile ever.
# 4 It’s just not that funny
I really think it’s more a difference of what I find funny and what other people might find funny. The thugs in the hospital gag has run it’s course on tickling my funny bone. I personally don’t find Dumb and Dumber amusing at all, and the one guy who got his teeth knocked out stopped being funny in episode one. Again, this is just me. Maybe you all think it’s hilarious. Either way, the writer sure does love it.
Every last bad guy Bong Soon beats up goes to the same hospital Min Hyuk’s in. Seoul isn’t that small. There are more hospitals out there. And some of those guys don’t need to be there at all. Bong Soon’s family finds out she was almost stabbed and they have to make sure she’s okay. Then they hear that Son-in-law Ahn took the knife for her, and they pile in his room to thank him. Of course, Mom’s temper leads her to the bad guys (down the hall) and she tries to beat up whoever tried to hurt her daughter. But Min Hyuk’s gangster dad gets to him first. This writer loves a good beat down.
#3 Check-in with Gook Doo and the bumbling police force
Gook Doo seems to recover from the revelation that Bong Soon is strong pretty quickly. He remembers many instances where he should have caught on to her strength. Everyone tells him Bong Soon doesn’t want him to know about it, so just pretend it didn’t happen. Uh… I think it’s too late for that.
Gook Doo does keep coming back to the junk yard when he thinks about all the clues so he pays another visit and the owner is finally there. We already knew it was Polygamist Kidnapper, but this is news to Gook Doo. He recognizes him as the witness they interviewed for the murder victim and his cop senses start pinging (I’m pretty sure he has them.).
He distracts PK by saying his car needs to be looked at and surveys the lot. He’s so close to finding where the girls are being kept but PK stops him before he gets inside.
By this time the higher ups have realized Gook Doo’s team hasn’t a clue how to solve a case so they’ve created a special task force and taken the case away from them.
Gook Doo doesn’t know this and he asks Bong Soon to listen to the interview with witness since she’s heard his voice several times. She makes the match, but they find out the task force arrested who they say is the killer and he’s confessed. It was someone who was stalking the murder victim so he has motive. At least for that girl. I guess they figure the other girls are dead, and that’s why they aren’t trying to find them.
#2 Daddy issues and Mommy Issues
While in the hospital Min Hyuk’s dad comes to see him. His dad wants to know why he’d put himself in danger for someone like that. They flip out on each other and things go flying. Min Hyuk tells him to leave.
Bong Soon witness all of this from the hallway. You can see the wheels turning. Her relationship with her mom is very similar to his with his dad. Neither parent seems to care about their child’s needs. I love that she immediately goes into taking care of him mode.
#1 So you were my angel
Last week when Bong Soon was going out to meet Min Hyuk. Before the whole fake kidnapping thing, she took that pink hoodie out of storage and wore it on purpose. She wanted him to know she’d been his savor back in high school.
And he makes sure she knows he recognizes her. She tells him that was the first time she used her strength to save someone. He’d thought his mother had sent him an angel (she did!).
He asks that she bath him before she leaves, but then instantly changes it to wash his hair. They’re close. The music is right. His stares are intense and sexy. She balls her fist and closes her eyes (the Korean girl signal that she’s willing to let you kiss her).
But Min Hyuk hesitates. And again, I do understand his decision. He’s unsure of her feelings for Gook Doo. She’s mooned over him since they met. And yes, she’s concerned about him after he took a knife for him. But does she likes him? He still doesn’t know. And you can tell that means a lot to him. He wants her to feel as much as he does when they’re lips meet.
The show doesn’t give as a kiss, but they do give us one of the best, most intimate stare fest.
This show is 100% OTP for me. They could delete all the scenes with anyone that wasn’t our main couple and I would be totally fulfilled. They’re adorableness is why viewers are watching this. At least this viewer.
Will we finally get that kiss we’ve been waiting for? Will it be as epic as I know these two are capable of? I sure hope so.
Still a Fan,
