I’m a little wary of historicals now — too much politicking, not enough fun for my tastes. But this trailer for Heungbu (aka Age of the Rebellion) makes me think that maybe, just maybe, I might enjoy it — especially because it’s a movie. There’s also the fact that Jung Hae In and Kim Won Hae are some of the side characters. Yeah, I’m in. 😀
The story revolves around the Joseon-era novelist Yeon Heungbu (Jung Woo, Trash Oppa from Answer Me 1994), who makes friends with an altruistic nobleman, Jo Hyuk (played by the late Kim Ju Hyeok). Jo Hyuk’s actions and his conflict with his power-hungry older brother, Jo Hang Ri (Jung Jin Young), spark Heungbu’s imagination and he writes a novel based on their relationship. The novel’s success across Joseon inspires Hang Ri to grab for absolute power.
Heungbu is an interpretation of the Korean children’s tale Heungbu and Nolbu. It will be released in February 2018 in South Korea. From the casting alone, I know I’ll be keeping an eye out for it. What about you, drama fans?

Dramas with a Side of Kimchi
I’ve done a number of historical dramas and I usually have to slog my way to the finish… they just don’t do it for me. I’ll wait to see your reviews… if you give a thumbs up, I’ll give it a go! 😉
LOL. No pressure! If I find this movie in a theater near me, I’ll definitely be going and reviewing!
