I have to admit there are a LOT of kpop songs that evoke a certain feeling in me of stretching out to reach someone or something — and they aren’t all from OSTs (just most of them). Come chat Kpop Songs of Longing with me!
Saltnpaper — “Satellite”
Ok, so I’m still in Chicago Typewriter mode — I swear it’ll pass eventually! In the meantime, I love how Saltnpaper’s “Satellite” perfectly captures the feeling of the ghostwriter wanting to be with his friends again.
BTS — “Spring Day”
Did you think I could really let even one kpop post pass without a BTS song? Granted, “Spring Day” is the epitome of a lonely-for-someone song.
Kim Kyung Hee — “And I’m Here”
Oh, this song kills me. It captures all the feeling of the sad love inΒ GoblinΒ and I adore it.
Taeyang — “Wake Me Up”
I think Taeyang is the King of Longing Songs. It was a difficult choice between “Wake Me Up”, “Let Go”, and “Eyes, Nose, Lips,” but I managed to decide. Eventually.
NU’EST W — “Let Me Out”
I love the irony of this song — it represents the Monkey King (Hwayugi) really, REALLY wanting to be let out of the unbreakable bond he has with Jin Seo Mi, but it almost sounds romantic.
Also, I thought I’d share an affiliate* link to the earbuds I use. They’re just a basic pair of Skullcandy earbuds, but I’ve had them for four years and they haven’t lost any sound quality and still fit perfectly in my ear. I take them everywhere and highly recommend them.
What about you, drama fans? What kpop songs tug at your heart strings? I’d love to know!

Lost by Ahn Ji Yeon from drama the smile has left your eyes is also full of longing
Excellent choices! Taeyang has such an amazing voice….I could gush about every one of these songs. I have a few on replay these days. Painful Love from the Misty OST. I really didn’t care for the drama and I dropped it but this song just stayed in my head all this time. Just Cared Too Much from the Guardian OST because man, I loved that drama. And Like We Used To by The Rose. All these are getting a lot of play right now.
I’m going to have to give those OST songs a listen! I have heard Like We Used To by The Rose. They’re definitely maturing as artists — I can definitely appreciate that.
Satellite from Chicago Typewriter and there’s one more they were my absolute favourites.
I will definitely check out other mvs. Thanks for this.
You’re welcome! I’m always glad to share the kpop love.
Blooming Memories, Writing Our Stories, and Come with Me were all some of my favorites. Honestly, I just need to buy the entire OST.
Where do you from? CDs or online?
I’ll probably buy it online through iTunes. I’m pretty sure I saw it there.
bogoshipta! the kpop song that taught me how to say “i miss you” in korean is Spring Day π
Ditto!
The first thing that popped in my mind when reading the topic was “aren’t they all like that?” π Well, perhaps not all but quite a fiew. Especially the ballads. There are even those that sound so very upbeat but once you look at the lyrics… Like Shin Hye Sung’s Awaken, it ever rocks^^ or B.A.P’s 1004 (Angel)
So, here are some like, in no particular order: Beast (Highlight)/ Fiction, BTOB/ Beautiful Pain, Nell/ The Day Before, Kim Sung Kyu/ 60 seconds and Kontrol, UNB/ After the Rain (actually, there are several rain themed songs that are just full of longing), K.Will/ Please Don’t (and just about any song he’s ever recorded, LOL), Infinite/ BTD (Before The Dawn), CNBlue/ I Will Forget You, M to M/ μλ μ λ§ μλ (This is Really Goodbye), Bang Yong Guk ft. Daehyun / I Remember, Mate / Come Back to Me
Annnnd the list goes on… I’ve been listening to kpop for a while now. π
That is QUITE the list!! Thank you for sharing!
π You are welcome. This post had me spending ages trawling YT as one song led to another. It was nice listening to old faves again. Some I’d totally forgotten even as it had been a while since the last time I heard them. There are many great songs of yesteryears that don’t get much play these days. But that’s the way it goes.
Don’t you just love those YouTube rabbit holes? I have to be very, very careful not to get lost in them for hours.
Oh yes, one has to be aware that entering a YT rabbit hole will more than likely result in hours of nonstop music. π
