It is only the 2nd teaser and already I can feel that the politicking will be heavy in this one. I like that we get a glimpse of different factions fighting and after reading some character descriptions, I am all in.
Found the following character descriptions HERE. So far, this is the most detail I have seen on what this drama is really about so I am sharing them along with the latest teaser.
Song Joong Ki – as Eun-seom
- A cursed child born in Blue Stone Village under an ominous sign. He later becomes conqueror of Asdal, taking it from city-state to empire.
Jang Dong Gun – as Ta Gon
- A war hero among the Saenyeok Tribe and master of strategy. He is ambitious and aims to become the first King of Asdal.
Kim Ji Won as Tan Ya
- A woman born under a cursed sign and who overcomes adversity to become the first female politician of Asdal. She is Eun-seom’s first love and the woman Ta-gon loves.
Kim Ok Vin as Tae Al Ha
The last surviving Noeantal, a race different from humans, as well as the first Empress of Asdal.
I especially like the addition of some non-human race….which looks just like humans. I wonder how that will make this different from a regular saguek. I can’t wait to find out. Arthdal Chronicles airs June 1st. Will you be watching?
This feels a lot like some Chinese dramas, along the lines of “Tribes and Empires-Storm of Prophecy,” more than a sageuk, and I welcome the variety. Fingers crossed that it will be amazing!
