Do you like VIXX? A.C.E.? Stray Kids? Me too!
I initially gave Noir a try a few months ago, but the song I listened to just felt derivative, so I gave them a pass. Thanks to a new kpop release list on Spotify, I heard “Doom Doom” and something just clicked.
Having listened to most of Noir’s three mini albums now, I’ve decided that sometimes circling back to a group is not a bad thing! Come see what I found to love when I gave Noir a second chance.
“Doom Doom”
This song gives me early SHINee vibes, but with a darker spin to it. It captured me immediately.
“Burning”
These lyrics are SO dramatic — that’s why they remind me of VIXX. I love it.
“As A Star”
This is just a sweet song, but the rapper has a rasp to his voice that calls to mind Stray Kids for some reason.
“Airplane Mode”
The more I listen to Airplane Mode, the more I find myself dancing along with it. And it’s slowly becoming an earworm.
“Diamond”
The piano intro reminds me a little of Pentagon’s “Shine”, but in a good way. I really like this song, and I hope they’re preparing to make an MV for it, because I LOVE the choreography!
BONUS TRACK: “Intro” – Topgun
I love, love, LOVE the feel of this intro — it’s on the dark side of whimsical, if EDM can ever be called whimsical, and completely intrigues me. I also suggest giving the instrumental version of “Doom Doom” a listen.
What do you think, drama fans? Will you be giving Noir a listen?
Until the next record spins, I remain —
