Come find out which shows will be perfect for snuggling with a blanket and drinking some hot cocoa as we chat the upcoming October dramas.

Yeonnamdong Global House (October ???)

Synopsis: “Yeonnamdong Global House” is a romantic comedy is about six people from all around the world living in a luxury share house in Seoul, and the drama tells their stories of life, love, and friendship. (Mydramalist)

Kmuse: This webdrama is slated to start this month so I included it on the list. I have not seen any teasers yet so at this point it is probably a skip for me.

Drama Geek: This could be interesting if they really do cast people from all around the world to represent in the house. I’ll hold my opinion until I see more info on this.

Karie the Maknae: Doesn’t this sound like MTV’s Real World? I guess it’s not a reality show, but the premise sounds the same!

Kdrama Jen: If I can find this subbed, then I will definitely watch. I love the idea of people all over the world living together and figuring out life.

MiataMama: My initial reaction was, meh. I definitely need a teaser (and maybe a recommendation from one of my fellow fangirls?) before I consider checking this drama out.

Clkytta: I’m not sure about this one. I loved Roommate, so I may give this a chance.

Extraordinary You/July Found by Chance (Moved from Sept to Oct 3rd)

Synopsis: Eun Danoh is a 17 year old high-school student from a wealthy family who suffers from a lifelong heart condition that inevitably means she will not live past her teenage years. However, when Danoh realizes she is experiencing long gaps in her memory as well, she comes into the unhappy inheritance of another fact in her life: she is a character in a Korean webtoon and all of her actions are predetermined by the artist who draws her. To make matters worse, she discovers she is only a supporting character in the cast. With her newfound understanding of the world she inhabits, she is determined to find true love in her own plot-line and circumvent the author’s plans for her character by utilizing the flashes of storyboard she alone is able to see. (Mydramalist)

Kmuse: This sounds super cute and perfect for fall. I’m committed to watch and crossing my fingers for the best since I don’t recognize most of the cast.

Karie the Maknae: FLUUUUUUUFF!! I’m in.

Drama Geek: You speak directly to my writer’s heart. I’m in!

Kdrama Jen: I have been waiting for this one and counting down the days! Definitely plan to watch it!

MiataMama: I’m SO in for this one – bring on the fluffy, high school angst!

Clkytta: Jumps on the bandwagon. I’ll try this one!

My Country: The New Age (Oct 4th)

Synopsis: Set during the end of the Goryeo period to the early Joseon period. Two friends aim their swords against one another due to differences in opinion about “my country.” (MyDramaList)

Kmuse: Hmm, this scriptwriter creates really memorable characters but not always the strongest dramas. Hoping that this time the story is equal to the characters since I really want to like this one.

Drama Geek: You had me at Do Wan’s mane of glory!! Actually, I love the contrast between the scruffy, dirty, and intenseness of one friend, and the beautifully dressed, skilled fighter as the other friend. I’m with Kmuse, and I hope the story holds up to the characters that have been created.

Karie the Maknae: Since my interest in historicals is limited, to say the least, I’ll wait to see if my kbesties say it is a must-watch. I won’t let the trailer tempt me into thinking otherwise. Nope. Not at all.

Kdrama Jen: I love this time period and I think Do Wan will be a great for for this role. I plan to watch and enjoy the mane of glory and fight scene awesomeness.

MiataMama: Jang Hyuk, sword battles, and all the manes of glory – LET’S DO THIS!!!

Clkytta: I’ll love all the pretty clips the Fangirls will share about this one. We all know that it takes a lot for me to get into saeguks.

The Lies Within

Synopsis: “Everyone’s Lies” is about a woman whose husband disappears after the sudden death of her father. She joins the National Assembly and teams up with a detective in her search for the truth. The two characters work together to break through the silence and lies that people spill to protect their own interests. (MyDramaList)

Kmuse: This is a new scriptwriter and I usually like to give newbies a chance to wow me. That and the fact that the lead is Lee Min Ki means I will give it the 4 episode test. Crossing fingers.

Drama Geek: Hmm… the synopsis is all about the woman and the trailer is just the guy. Not sure if I’ll watch or not. I need more info.

Karie the Maknae: I am slowly learning that I am highly tempted by OCN dramas, but they often get too dark for me. Most likely this will be a pass.

Kdrama Jen: Lee Min Ki? I will watch at least the first few episodes and then decide!

MiataMama: I got as far as the words ‘National Assembly’ in the synopsis and was all, nope. But then I watched the trailer and see that the male lead is Lee Min Ki. Now I’m torn. But, if I factor in that this is an OCN drama, I have to echo the Maknae – this will likely be a pass for me too.

Clkytta: Ohhh, I love a good mystery! I’ll check this one out. I love Lee Min Ki, and mysteries are my thing, so I will make time to watch this one.

Leverage (Oct 15th)

Synopsis: “Leverage” will tell the story of Lee Tae Joon, an elite insurance investigator turned scam strategist who recruits the best “players” in order to catch the real criminals who think they’re above the law. (MyDramaList)

Kmuse: I was a big fan of the US version of this show and think it will translate well to a Korean audience. Can’t wait to watch.

Drama Geek: Please be legally subbed!!! I want to see Kim Kwon as a scammer, and essentially good guy. This role is perfect for him.

Karie the Maknae: Second Leverage fan here! I’d love for this to be legally subbed so I can check it out.

Kdrama Jen: I will wait until the others drag me in!

MiataMama: I haven’t seen the American version and since Lee Dong Gun is the lead in the Korean version, I will be giving this drama a hard pass.

Clkytta: I did not watch the American version, but I’ll see if this one works for me.

Catch The Ghost (Oct 21st)

Synopsis: “Catch the Ghost” is a romantic investigative drama about a woman named Yoo Ryung who solves cases with her overflowing sense of justice and exceptional spatial perception but always gets herself into trouble because of her rash actions. She meets the Wangsimni station constabulary chief, a man who avoids cases and seeks stability. However, he always ends up cleaning up after the problems caused by Yoo Ryung and holds the key to solving the cases. (MyDramaList)

Kmuse: This drama got pushed from July until October and I’m still not feeling it. I am not a huge Moon Guen Young fan so unless I hear it is AMAZING, it will be a skip for me.

Drama Geek: This one has potential. The leads already have good chemistry in the teaser, and I love a good female cop drama.

Karie the Maknae: This looks fun! I might take a peek if it’s legal somewhere.

Kdrama Jen: This is not speaking to me at the moment. I always reserve the right to change my mind, though!

MiataMama: KIM SUN HO!!!! Don’t mind the fangirling fangirl over here, lol. I adore this often overlooked actor and can’t wait for this show to air. It’s a TvN drama though, so I’m hoping it gets picked and subbed legally. Otherwise, I will be over here crying in my kimchi.

Clkytta: I am out on this one. Unless it gets great reviews from the Fangirls I won’t be watching. It sounds kind of boring.

VIP (Oct 28th)

Synopsis: VIP is a mystery drama about the rise of working women who run into troubles at work and in their personal lives. Park Sung Joon is a team leader of VIP department store department. After graduating from a prestigious university, Sung Joon entered the company and now has the ability, the opportunity, and ambition. Park Sung Joon’s wife, Na Jung Sun is a strong woman with a bright personality, but most people are unaware of her struggle. (MyDramaList)

Kmuse: Not feeling it despite some solid teasers. Will wait to hear other’s opinion on this one.

Drama Geek: Until this teaser I wasn’t that interested in checking this one out, but now I think I’ll give it 4 episodes. I think this pairing could be an interesting one, and her character is giving me similar vibes to who she became by the end of Empress, which I was a huge fan of.

Karie the Maknae: I was going to pass because I don’t love the “rich people problems” dramas, but this is people dealing WITH the rich people. And I liked Jang Na Ra in The Last Empress, so I might give it a shot.

Kdrama Jen: Lee Sang Yoon is an actor I really like, but I haven’t adored any of the dramas he has chosen. I love him in Master in the House, so I will always watch any of his projects—at least for four episodes!

MiataMama: Huh. I was going to pass on this based on the synopsis, even though I enjoy both the leads. But then I watched the trailer and my curiosity is piqued. I will give this one the four episode try!

Clkytta: Nope. This is just not appealing to me at all. I’m not a Jang Na Ra fan, but even more than that, I just don’t have time to watch. Unless a drama is really grabbing my interest I’m not willing to carve out time to watch.
