Karie the Maknae: You know what? I’m so glad when I’m not wrong about a group. ATEEZ had a strong, STRONG debut and they’ve kept that momentum going for the last year. I’m ridiculously proud of them and I love their latest album Treasure Ep. Fin: All to Action.
MiataMama: Oh Maknae, you were SO not wrong about ATEEZ!!! (I am eternally grateful to you for sharing them with me – 사랑해요!) With powerful songs, killer dance routines, and unstoppable charisma, they continue to set the bar as K-pop rookies! This last installment of their Treasure journey does NOT disappoint!
Karie the Maknae: I loveloveLOVE how “End of the Beginning” opens the album! “Wonderland” is fantastic, “Dazzling Light” is growing on me, “Precious” is quirky and moody and I love it for it, “Win” is a great anthem, “Thank U” makes my heart happy, and “Sunrise” just SPEAKS to me.
MiataMama: Do I have to choose? Can’t I just love them all?? “Wonderland” packs a strong punch and I love how the rap and vocal sections all come together, making the whole song feel bigger than life. If you need to hype yourself up,”Win” delivers ALL the energy – I can’t even begin to fathom the dance routine they might put together for this song. I totally went ’emo-girl’ and started crying when the chorus to “Thank U” hit – can you imagine ATEEZ singing this in concert?? The album outro, “Beginning of The End”, feels like the swelling, triumphal final credits of a movie. But then we get teased by the lyrics at the end. . . are they already giving us a glimpse into the future?!
Karie the Maknae: I love that the themes brought out in the previous albums come full circle in All to Action. There’s some sampling from “Pirate King” in “Precious”, there’s marching like there was in HALA HALA, and even the “open your eyes” from Crescent shows up! It’s an auditory delight.
MiataMama: Because All to Action is a full-length album, everyone got a chance to shine! I delighted in hearing lead vocals from those members who have played a more supporting role in ATEEZ’s previous albums. And of course, the pirate theme (which I absolutely love!) continued to stay the course throughout the tracklist – 가자! (Let’s go!)
Karie the Maknae: I can tell a lot of prep and vision went into the making of all four albums, and I think that All to Action is a great conclusion to the series. I’m also glad I found out that Eden had a hand in all the songs, and HongJoong and MinGi seem to have added their personal touch to most of them as well. It’s a great album and I’m glad I get to experience it!
MiataMama: Not to take anything away from the OT8 (Eight Makes One Team), but I really admire and appreciate all that Eden has contributed to all the albums. The combination of his music savvy and ATEEZ’s extraordinary talent make All to Action the perfect ending to the Treasure era. And while this expedition has reached its end, the journey is FAR from over. . . I will continue to follow ATEEZ, wherever they lead!
