One of my favorite things about being a kpop fan is watching a strong group come into their own sound and style. iKON debuted in 2015 and here we are five years later, happily anticipating their next comeback. Come read about the direction iKON is headed and see if you like it as much as I do!

“Rubber Band”
This is the first iKON song I ever heard, and I was captivated by underlying melancholy of the song. The lyrics are amazing and deep, capturing the frustration of being in a relationship that has already run its course, but not willing to be the first one to let go of the tight rubber band.
“Love Scenario”
A friend pointed out the delightful pronunciation of scenario in this song, which made me laugh, but I fell instantly in love with it too. It wasn’t hard.
“Killing Me”
There is it, that melancholy underlying the song, even though there’s an upbeat backbeat and the top notes are so bouncy and full of life. This beautiful contrast is what keeps me coming back to iKON.
“I’m OK”
These boys are far too good at the breakup songs that just tug at the heart. The lyrics remind me of the same story being told in Winner’s “Soso” — putting on a good front and pretending that a recent breakup isn’t affecting every part of their life.
Bobby and Ju-Ne “Deep Night”
For iKON’s next comeback, it looks like the boys are being encouraged to spread their wings. The result is so very satisfying! Ju-Ne has branched out into pop rock, joining the likes of Day6, Onewe, We Tuzi, and NE7T. His harmonies with himself and with Bobby are unreal — I love listening to him relax into his baritone range and creating something beautiful. Take a listen!

Thank you for introducing me to this group! I am in love with the Deep Night song! Jun-he has such a smooth voice it is honey to my ears. Bobby’s rap just takes the song to another level!!! While I have researched the lyrics, when I am listening I do not know what they are saying but the sound is so awesome I really enjoy it.
Isn’t “Deep Night” just a beautiful song? I’ve been listening to it on repeat when I can. I love it too!
I started reading this and was shocked by the fact that iKon debuted 5 years ago!!! They’re still small baby rookies for me 🤣 They’ve truly grown out to be one of the best yg groups 🥰
I KNOW!! I thought they were still new-ish, maybe 2-3 years from their debut. But I agree–they are a FANTASTIC group. So solid.
