We continued to watch Bollywood rom-coms to keep the stress at bay. Come find if Khoobsurat is one that you should check out during your quarantine.
Synopsis: A hopelessly romantic physiotherapist meets a handsome young Rajput prince who is the complete opposite of her and engaged to someone else (IMDb)
Clkytta: I kept telling Kmuse that this movie is like a mix of The Princess Diaries and The Nanny. We have a free-spirited doctor who comes to shake up the life of the monarchy. She is like a ray of sunshine as she stubbornly defies convention and worms her way into the hearts of the family.
Kmuse: I will admit it took me around 20 min or so to really begin enjoying the leading lady. She is a whole lot of spunk. But after you really started to get to know the characters I was utterly charmed. It was such a fun movie and perfect as a form of escapism from reality.
Clkytta: Can we talk about the various settings? The movie felt sumptuous and I wanted to go and roll around in all those scarves in her room. Indian movies are always so rich in color, and I always feel brighter when I watch them.
Kmuse: I want to live in the palace! It is so gorgeous and open, the perfect setting for love. Everything just felt so exotic and gorgeous. It was uplifting.
Kmuse: Surprisingly, I ended up liking all the characters. I completely became invested in the King’s recovery and his relationship with his wife. It was the perfect side story to accompany the main romance. They really created a show with no real villains and I was happy with every story arc.
Clkytta: The romance was fun and I adored all the characters. I also loved the royal parents’ story. The King was a really well-written character. One of my favorite themes of this movie was the relationship between our leading lady and her mom. Her mom was her best friend and biggest supporter. I think when you spend so much time dealing with the evil Kdrama moms, it makes you really appreciate a supportive mom.
Kmuse: This is the perfect fluffy rom-com to watch with your girlfriends or even your kids. It was clean, romantic, and fast-paced with tons of heart and cute moments. I give it an 8/10.
Clkytta: This was such a fun movie. I loved the mix of tradition and modern elements that we saw. This is 100% a feel-good movie. I’ll also give it an 8/10.
