Top 5 Kpop MVs: It’s a Kpop Salad!

We have aliens and trot rock and rookies and singing rappers this week, y’all, and I’m in love with every minute of it! Come check out what new kpop MVs I have to share with you this week.

Fistbump – “Hey Young Fellas”

Give this one a spin! The “trot meets rock” vibe is a jam, and it feels fresh. I can’t shake the early Beatles feeling it gives me too — I swear it’s not just the long hair.

Joohoney – “Smoky”

I love it so much when rappers sing, and Joohoney of Monsta X has the perfect voice to pair with solid guitar riffs and even a children’s choir. Trust me, this combination totally works.

Pentagon – “Daisy”

I’m loving the harmonies and the rhythm of this song — Pentagon is really growing into themselves, and it shows.

Enhypen – “Flicker”

I’m still trying to decide if I like this song, music fans. The boys’ skills are top-notch, but it doesn’t quite feel like they’ve gelled yet. Nevertheless, this is a good song, and I look forward to see what they do in the future. Edited to add: I got fooled good, music fans — my fault for not checking the attribution for the video. See Jude’s very helpful comment below!

VeriVery – “G.B.T.B.”

This is a total anthem and I love it. The end.

BONUS TRACK: Chen – “Hello”

My goodness, Chen’s voice is lovely and soothing and perfect for this ballad. YES I SAID BALLAD. He’s got range and this song lets him show it off — the maturity in his voice sets it apart from the usual breathy vocals.

BONUS TRACK: Lee Suhyun – “Alien”

This song is a SPLENDID bop. Suhyun could NOT get any more adorable than this, I don’t think.

Thanks once again to MiataMama, who found most of these MVs, and who was the first to slide Chen and Joohoney my direction with a “Hey! You’re gonna like this one.” Moral of the story: Get yourselves some good kpop dealers, music fans!

Until the next alien invasion, I remain —

  1. Hi Karie. I want to point out the Enhypen MV. The reason it feels like the members of Enhypen haven’t “gelled” yet is because this MV is fake -it is fan made. The description under the video specifies it is FM (fan made). The song Flicker was part of the Chemistry Test (test 2) of part 2 of I-Land, the competition show which formed Enhypen. It includes K (who was eliminated in the last episode) and is missing Jay, Sunoo or Niki (who were all on the other team for this test).
I’m an Engene (official fan club) so a couple of things stood out as red flags to me on this video that would be missed by a more casual viewer, so don’t feel bad. 1. Enhypen hasn’t debut yet. 2. The BigHit intro wouldn’t be on their official MVs. They belong to Belift Lab, which is a joint venture of BigHit. That puts them under the umbrella of BigHit like GFriend and Seventeen, but they are not direct artists of BigHit like BTS and TXT.

    • Thank you so much for the correction, Jude! I’ve edited the post to reflect it. I appreciate your expertise — thank you for sharing it!

  2. Thanks for showing Chen some love…such a gorgeous song with very interesting changes. And he enlisted today…will be a while til we hear him again
