Top 5 Kpop MVs: What in the World?

To quote REM: “It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.” This week’s MVs focus on the end of the world – with one notable exception – and give me hope that during dark times, there will always be music and color and adorable idols to free us all.

ATEEZ – “Guerrilla”

Would I want ATEEZ to rescue me from a state-sponsored “education”? IN A HEARTBEAT. I’m loving this MV and the new direction for ATEEZ’s sound – come see if you’re as intrigued as I am.

Zico – “Freak”

Hello there, apocalypse! Zico’s tongue-in-cheek look at how Koreans would act during an apocalypse is hilarious and somehow poignant. I love this mini-movie, and the visuals are fascinating.

Jackson Wang – “Cruel”

I don’t even know what’s going on here, but there’s fire and ash and people coming up out of the rubble, and that’s just in the first 30 seconds! The use of distortion in this song adds an interesting post-apocalyptic vibe to the music itself.

Seventeen – “World”

“World” is smooth and plastic looking – everything is contained on a set – but what do you expect when a group is singing about creating their own world? There are echoes of disco in this danceable number, and the sequined suits match the fireworks SO VERY WELL.

TXT – “Valley of Lies” feat. iann dior

This is a deceptively light-hearted video, but don’t worry – there’s still meteors and destruction wrapped up in this visualizer! SPOILER: it ends in a happy place.

BONUS TRACK: KTigers performing to Le Sserafim – “Fearless”

I really like “Fearless” and I really, REALLY like the K-Tigers, so of COURSE I had to bring you this video!
