If there’s one thing that keeps me hooked on a group or a soloist, it’s the quality and appeal of their vocals. I will always keep coming back for more! Join me as I check out some solid comebacks from my favorites, a debut group that has already found its way onto my permanent playlists, and so many more.
Oneus – “Erase Me”
Everything about this experience is tight – the vocals, the harmonies, the choreography, EVERYTHING. The solid chorus with its “da da da” gets my heart pounding every time. Also, Lee Do with long hair? Yes please! I’m loving this comeback for Oneus, and I’m hopeful for their future.
Xikers – “Rockstar”
I love that KQ’s newest boy group is just dominating right out of the gate. “Rockstar” is a great track from their debut album – upbeat and catchy, but with an element of seriousness that keeps it from being bubblegum pop. And their harmonies? THAT was the first thing that caught my ear! I am loving the entire album, so do yourself a favor and go check it out.
Xdinary Heroes – “Dear H.”
Xdinary Heroes have been flying just under my radar for a while. I’ve been waiting for a song of theirs to catch me, and “Dear H.” is IT – the soaring vocals, the fantastic use of guitar, the heartfelt lyrics all combined for a listening experience like no other. I gave the rest of their new album a shot, and I love it!
Kim Feel – “Love You!” feat. Tablo
Say hello to one of my newest favorite voices in Kpop. Kim Feel had a hit on the Itaewon Class soundtrack with “Someday, the Boy” and he’s back with this excellent collab. His rich, melodic voice is a great contrast to Tablo’s gritty vocals, and I could listen to it all day.
Becky – “Illusion”
Speaking of new voices to love, I’m so glad I took a chance on this single from Becky. It’s chill and layered with great effects featuring her smooth vocals. I’ll be keeping an eye out for her work in the future.
Adios Audio – “Ping”
Another new voice to appreciate! Adios Audio is a solid band, and Maho’s vocals remind me of Jaurim and Ah Ye Eun – low and resonant with a certain kind of…stretchiness…to it. You’ll just have to listen and see!
N.Flying – “Blue Moon”
I have loved N.Flying for YEARS, and that love will not die when they keep giving us solid tracks like “Blue Moon.” I love the optimism and love they’ve put into this song, and you can bet it’ll be getting a lot of spins from me in the near future!
BONUS TRACK: Kihyun – “Full Moon”
Tale of the Nine-tailed: 1938 started recently, and already the OST is knocking it out of the park. I mean, the first season’s OST is one of my all-time favorites, so it makes sense that the second season’s OST will be amazing too. Starting out with Kihyun’s memorable vocals on “Full Moon” was an excellent choice.
