What to Watch – March 2024

March is here, and with it are some new dramas with some beloved faces. Come choose who you’ll be watching for the next few weeks!

Queen of Tears – Netflix, March 9

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won are a fascinating blend of love and loathing in this new drama by Park Ji Eun, who also wrote Crash Landing on You, The Legend of the Blue Sea, and My Love from the Star. With two very experienced directors at the helm – Jang Young Woo and Kim Hee Won – and a stellar cast, this Netflix drama could go very, very well.

The Midnight Studio – Viki, March 11

A family curse, a man who’s compelled to take pictures of the dead, and a passionate attorney who keeps running into him – The Midnight Studio has all the makings of an interesting modern fantasy drama. Joo Won and Kwon Na Ra are the capable leads, and they’re supported by a strong cast. The first episode was intriguing once we got through all the setup – I’m on board for now!

Chicken Nugget – Netflix, March 15

After watching the first episode, I don’t even know what to think about this webtoon-turned-drama. It’s silly and full of hijinks and fake laughter. I’m cautiously on board because the trailer made me love the bromance brewing between Ryu Seung Ryong and Ahn Jae Hong, but I also see a full quirk-storm on the horizon.

Nothing Uncovered – KOCOWA, March 18

Honestly, I’m not sure I’m buying into this setup. As much as I loved Kim Ha Neul in 18 Again, this story sounds like makjang taking itself too seriously. If it gets good buzz, I might give it a try. For now, it’s on my pass list.

Hide – Viki, March 23

Lee Bo Young? YES. The rest of the cast? Well, I do love Kim Sang Ho, so there’s that. The plot description doesn’t give me a lot to go on and it seems overly serious. I’m not in the mood for that kind of thing right now, so it’s a pass for me.

The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection – KOCOWA, March 23

Show Information: https://mydramalist.com/750239-7-escape-season-2

I gave the first season of The Escape of the Seven a shot because I love Lee Joon, but the moment Hwang Jung Eum betrayed her daughter (IN THE FIRST FIFTEEN MINUTES), I knew this wasn’t the show for me. But if you loved the first season and need answers to all the makjang chaos, then you’ll be pushing play soon!
