It is rare that we comment about South Korea’s scary neighbor to the north. Let alone, wonder how they became the way they are? And that is not going to change anytime soon. This is an entertainment blog after all and not a history blog. But that doesn’t mean we can’t promote the talented people that do focus on the subject. Continue reading
Kmuse’s Musings
Kmuse’s Musings: Where have all the romantic kdramas gone?
I was sitting down to my computer contemplating what I should write about and drawing a blank. It was only while I was staring at My Drama List when I realized one very disturbing fact. I am not watching any truly romantic dramas right now. There are a few which feature aspects of romance, but even they are besieged with melo angst tropes and/or illness. Which brings up the question “What has happened to the romantic drama genre?” Continue reading

Kmuse’s Musings: A Kaddict’s Trials When Kdramas Start Becoming Mainstream
Am I the only one who has noticed the changes over the last several months in the Asian drama industry? I am sure I’m not since I have seen variations of this topic discussed on every Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook group I belong to. Sometimes, I myself, am the one to bring up the topic (like now) because I am frustrated and just need to find a way to vent. So what I really want to focus on (as focused as a late night rambling can be) is what has happened to the random kaddict now that the drama world has expanded and become much more mainstream. So come join me as I chat Asian dramas, subbing woes, and whatever else comes to mind. Continue reading
Kmuse’s Musings: Dramathoning in the Fall
Fall. The time of year where leaves turn colors, the air becomes crisp, and the days begin to shorten. It is also my favorite time of the year to do a really good binge watch. But just as the season is unique and has distinctive attributes, so do the dramas I choose to rewatch. Come join me as I discuss my favorite shows to dramathon in the fall. Continue reading
Kmuse’s Musings: My Drama Inspired Book List
Every now and then I like to glance away from my TV screen and rejoin the real world. Usually by reading a book in a coffee shop surrounded by the smell of coffee and a nice cup of peppermint tea sitting in front of me. What? I am not going to do something crazy like go to a party or anything. That kind of thing is exhausting. But despite my stepping away from on-screen drama, the drama often follows me into my reading choices. Which inspired me to share my favorite Asian themed books and hopefully give you new options to explore when you are forced away from your dramas. Continue reading
Kmuse’s Musings: A New Batch of Teasers

Kmuse’s Musings: Attack of the Sequels
I am so conflicted. Some of my favorite dramas are coming out with sequels and my interest is conflicted. On one point, I love that my favorite shows were so good that they deserve a 2nd look. The problem is that often, sequals are made just to get more money and not necessarily to promote talented storytelling. So lets take a moment to check out what is coming up and my feelings for each project. Continue reading
Kmuse’s Musings: A Morning of Kpop Comebacks
I started the morning off like any other. I dumped the kids at school at an ungodly hour (what? No one should be forced to wake up before 9.) and shuffled back into the house debating on whether I should just fall back into bed. Instead, I opened up my twitter account and was overwhelmed with visions of a blond Roy Kim in various bright colored screenshots and now here I am. Inspired to discuss, not just one, but three Kpop comebacks. So join me as I chat about my thoughts regarding the newest MV’s by Roy Kim, Twice, and VIXX. Continue reading
Kmuse’s Musings: How To Survive While Your Bias Is Gone For 2 Years of Military Service
We all knew this day was coming. As of March 28th 2017, Seo In Guk officially entered the mandatory South Korean military for two very long years. I imagine I am not the only Heartrider, sitting at my computer devastated at the thought that my bias will not be in new dramas, music videos, or any other form of media entertainment for 24 months. So I thought it would be useful to write out in words how I am going to survive this horrible time in my life.
