First Impressions & Unfiltered Thoughts: Devilish Joy

I think I’ve finally found a companion to Still 17! MiataMama and I decided to give Devilish Joy a whirl after hearing it described as being somewhat like 50 First Dates. Thankfully, I don’t spy anyone like Rob Schneider in this one (not a knock on the man himself — his character was just awful in that movie). Nor is the lead character stuck in the same day — he and the people around him are fully aware of his Cinderella amnesia, as they call it. The amnesia is the ONLY thing that ties the two together.  Continue reading

Your House Helper: First Impressions and Unfiltered Thoughts

Sometimes there is a scene in a drama that just makes your heart pound and you feel a sense of longing that just can’t be described.    I found myself taking screenshots and sending them to my Kbesties.  No, I wasn’t sending them any shirtless pictures or angsty shower scenes; I was lusting after the idea of having someone come clean and organize my house.  So, I will warn you.  This new drama might leave you feeling dissatisfied with your current situation.  Why can’t we ALL have a house helper like this one? Your House Helper does have some other features to recommend it, so read on for my first impressions and unfiltered thoughts. Continue reading

First Impressions & Unfiltered Thoughts: Miss Hammarabi

Are you ready for romance in the courtroom? Can judges have emotions and still make informed decisions? First, let me say that I’m not a big courtroom drama fan.  I was interested in this drama mainly because I’m curious if Go Ah Ra and Kim Myung Soo (L) have any chemistry and I wanted to see Go Ah Ra and Sung Dong Il in a drama again. So I went into this drama hoping that it would be more than just boring courtroom scenes. Come and join me as I give my unfiltered thoughts on Miss Hammarabi. Caution: There may be small spoilers as I outline the story.  Continue reading

5 Reasons to Watch Secret of the Three Kingdoms

OH MY GOSH!  I am so addicted to this drama it is not even funny.  The Bromance, the mystery, the political intrigue.  There is so much chemistry it is flying off the screen and making my heart pitter patter like crazy.  And, as we all know, I am incapable of keeping my latest obsessions to myself so I dragged my kbestie Kdrama Jen into the obsession with me…as well as this post.  So join us as we discuss why you should call in sick to work and binge watch this brilliant Chinese drama. Checking out the Chinese drama Only Side by Side with You

I have been watching lots of Chinese dramas recently, but mostly the fantasy/historical genres. Only Side by Side with You is a modern day story with an interesting setting. I have never watched a drama with a leading lady who is running a drone company, and I was intrigued by the idea of such a geeky revenge plot. Read on to hear why I keep watching despite some cheesiness. Continue reading

First Impressions and Unfiltered Thoughts: My Mister

Gather ’round, y’all, and I’ll tell you a little tale from grad school. As I was earning my master’s degree in English, I had to read many, many books that people thought were the best form of art. Some were great — excellent characters, good humor, moments of lightness, and a well-resolved ending. Some, often extolled as high art or literary fiction, were about the worst of people making the worst of choices and brooding about it for pages in lyrically moody settings.

Guess which kind I hated? If you said literary fiction, or lit fic for short, you can anoint yourself with a gold star. So, read on and see what lit fic and My Mister have in common, and what Kmuse and I think from the first few episodes we watched.
