We reviewed both of the Korean Pirate films and there is one we liked much more than the other. Come find out what we thought about both films and why some things worked and others didn’t as we deep dive into The Pirate (2014) and The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure (2022).
There are two reasons for this post: to get more people to watch When the Camellia Blooms and to talk about how all of us could use a sprinkle of hope. 2019 has been a hard year for many people, so it was nice that right before it ended, we got a drama that reminded us that we aren’t all bad. That when we work together, we can make miracles happen, and we do genuinely care about each other. (As I listen to myself from 2019, I wish I could go back and tell her to enjoy the next few weeks a little more, and maybe invest in GameStop. Alas, I think all of this applies even more now. If you somehow haven’t seen this drama, I hope it might give you joy.)
Kim So Hyun is back, and she’s kicking some major ass in her new drama. With Ji Soo by her side, this drama has a sweet youthful feel that we’re loving. Not that we’re fooling ourselves into forgetting there is a 90% chance that one, or both, of our leads won’t likely make it to the end of the drama.
