I just can’t with Taemin. Somehow, with these last two albums of his, he’s achieved a level of professionalism in his dancing and his singing that seem untouchable. Come see what I thought of his latest album, Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2.Continue reading

One kpop tradition I’ve come to love is the farewell song that kpop idols record before they go into the military. Being a fairly new kpop fan, the ones I’m most aware of come from SHINee and BigBang (lo, the reach of BigBang!). So enjoy below five goodbye songs from some of my favorite boys.Continue reading
So when I chose this topic I soon realized that it is impossible to choose only 5 iconic Kpop MVS. But you have to start somewhere, so I am throwing out five older songs I think everyone should check out if you are into Kpop.Continue reading
Just a little background on me: When it comes to music, I’m a proficient dabbler. I know enough about playing and performing to really respect talented vocalists and well-crafted songs. I love watching new artists find their sound and established artists push their sound in new directions. And I am ALWAYS looking for a sound that’s just a little different from the rest of the genre, making it stand out because of the hook, the harmony, or the chorus that gets eternally trapped in my head.
How’s that for an intro? Let’s get down to business, shall we? This week I present to you some of the new-to-me tight vocals that have tickled my neurons, and the soaring vocals that caught my ear in the last few months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!Continue reading
Ok, so today’s post is technically just songs — B-sides don’t get their own MVs. I have to hunt high and low to find a YouTube version of the song, but I do it because I love it. (Ok, yes, the dance practices for some songs are ridiculously easy to find. Let me have my little exaggerations.)
**For educational purposes, back in the day, B-sides were the songs from the opposite side of the record that recording companies would send to the radio station to play on the air. A-sides were the hit songs, or potential hit songs, while B-sides were usually personally selected by the artist because they felt that it was as strong as the A-side song, and they really, REALLY hoped the DJ would like it enough to play it. **
Read on for what I consider to be some great B-side kpop songs!
It’s almost Halloween! And while this holiday is not really celebrated in Korea the way it here is in the US, I thought it would be the perfect time to bring out those music videos that cover the more spooky/odd aspects of life. So come join me and celebrate the holiday Kpop style. Continue reading
Kpop music videos are always colorful and brilliantly executed and they definitely embrace an element of the weird more often than not. Today’s selection, however, pushed me beyond the initial “What did I just watch?” reaction, though. Before you start thinking that the shiny newness has not worn off this Maknae, let me tell you that there were several videos that did not make the cut for today’s post, including SHINee’s “Everybody” and “Ring Ding Dong.” In my wanderings down the kpop rabbit hole, I have found some videos that would make even David Bowie raise his eyebrows. Without further ado, I present to you Five Over-the-Top Kpop MVs!
