Slapping an “indie” label on a band isn’t easy, in my mind. Indie music has evolved to have a certain sound and setup — it isn’t just music produced by musicians who are independent of the big labels anymore.
My definition of indie has come to mean a band whose focus is on the vocals and the instruments they play — they aren’t necessarily worried about their visual concept and dancing is very, VERY low on their priority list!
Come enjoy some indie music with me and see if you agree . . . .
Kmuse knows me so well. She was entertaining me with quirky kpop videos the other night that totally fit my impromptu video qualification list.

Catchy melody? Check!

Disappearing and reappearing flowers, awkwardly dancing clones, eerie marionettes, angry teddy bears, and a cross-dressing Siwon and imaginary motorcycles — what more do you need? Come watch these MVs to entertain your brain AND your ears!
I love hearing what other kinds of music other people love, and it allows me to be just the tiniest bit lazy because I don’t have to search it out on my own. After chatting with MiataMama and DwaSoK fan Gretel, I came away with some new artists to fall in love with. Come see if you like what you hear too!
I initially gave Noir a try a few months ago, but the song I listened to just felt derivative, so I gave them a pass. Thanks to a new kpop release list on Spotify, I heard “Doom Doom” and something just clicked.
Having listened to most of Noir’s three mini albums now, I’ve decided that sometimes circling back to a group is not a bad thing! Come see what I found to love when I gave Noir a second chance.
(G)I-dle released a new comeback today with Senorita. Which makes it the perfect time to highlight this talented group with a Top 5 post. Come find out if this group needs to become your a regular on your playlists.
Ever since I wrote about ATEEZ’s Pirate King in my last post, I have NOT been able to get enough of this debut group. Their super-tight harmonies and sharp dance moves are extremely impressive, and I hope I’m seeing the beginning of a long, successful career. Join me in the ATiny fandom by enjoying the five videos below!
So when I chose this topic I soon realized that it is impossible to choose only 5 iconic Kpop MVS. But you have to start somewhere, so I am throwing out five older songs I think everyone should check out if you are into Kpop.
Just a little background on me: When it comes to music, I’m a proficient dabbler. I know enough about playing and performing to really respect talented vocalists and well-crafted songs. I love watching new artists find their sound and established artists push their sound in new directions. And I am ALWAYS looking for a sound that’s just a little different from the rest of the genre, making it stand out because of the hook, the harmony, or the chorus that gets eternally trapped in my head.
How’s that for an intro? Let’s get down to business, shall we? This week I present to you some of the new-to-me tight vocals that have tickled my neurons, and the soaring vocals that caught my ear in the last few months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Kmuse here! Finally back and ready to get my Kpop on. While I was trying to figure out what I should focus on, it came to me that I haven’t talked about the latest songs/performances that have shown up in the last little while. So I am going to take a break from looking at the past and share which new songs I think you need to check out.
