Second leads, sometimes we love them and want to see them make that jump to 1st lead status.  But what about those actors that seem to just be made to be 2nd leads?  Or what about those actors that refuse to stop being 2nd leads?  Yes, you guessed it.. we chat 2nd leads in Day 9 of our 14 Days of Fangirling.

Day 9 – Second leads that will always be second leads

KMUSE:

I am going to duck to avoid all the rotten tomatoes coming my way (I know a lot of our readers and even our bloggers love this actor) but I am going to say Lee Soo Hyuk.  Don’t get me wrong, I think he is extremely talented at what he does and I usually am happy to see him as second lead in a drama.  But I am not sure he could consistently keep my focus as a leading man.  Maybe in certain storylines, but not straight across the genre board.  I will just continue to enjoy him as he plays in many great dramas and if he ever does actually make the 1st lead leap, I  will keep an open mind.

CLSunbae:

JI SOO!!! When you gonna get that girl already!? He’s killing me with all his second leadness. KILLING ME. Angry Mom, Page Turner, Doctors, Fantastic, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Weightlifting Fairy and soon to be a second lead in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. He steams, he broods, he steals all the scenes. But I can’t get no satisfaction. Somebody get me the number for Korea. I gotta lodge a complaint on a national level.

CLKYTTA:

Go Kyung Pyo seems to always give me Second Lead Syndrome and I can’t think of a drama he’s been the lead in.  I was happy to see him get the girl in Reply 1988, but he was still a second lead falling for a second lead.  He’s the second lead that gets a girl, but it’s never the main girl.  I do have to say that he and Kim Seul Gi were my favorite couple in Flower Boy Next Door. 

Kdrama Jen:

I have to second Ji Soo.  He draws my attention no matter the size of the role.  Even his brief appearance in Weight Lifting Fairy made my heart flutter.  I am sure we are not alone, so I predict he will be the leading man by the end of 2017.  I think Strong Woman is going to catapult him into the spotlight.
