BOOK REVIEW: The Kpop Romance Novellas of Jennie Bennett

You know what’s really hard? Finding niche books that scratch the itch for this avid reader. When I ran across Jennie’s books (well before I found her here on the blog!), I was delighted!

These are such fun, fluffy beach reads, with a good plot hook to keep me drawn in and characters that felt realistic.  Jennie has a great touch with her characters — she develops them really well with just a few strokes of the pen, as it were. The heroes and heroines all have a great push-and-pull, and I love that the girls all finally find their feet. Jennie rounds out the stories with fun details like a dance-off with sasaengs, obnoxious family members, and a good understanding of the quirky things kpop fans do.  Undercover Fan and Celebrity Superhero are my favorites, but they are *all* a good way to pass the time and indulge in a little kpop wish fulfillment. Definitely worth a read!

In more exciting news, Jennie will be a panelist at KCon next month! We’re all very excited for her. You can find her on the fanfiction panel.

  1. I’m really excited to read these. In fact, I just popped over to Amazon and bought the trilogy for my Kindle. I recently read the YA novel I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo. It is about a high school girl who uses methods from Kdramas to try to land the guy she likes. It was pretty good but had potential to be better.
I look forward to reading these. Thanks!

  2. I just finished CELEBRITY SUPERHERO. I had no idea what a sasaeng was until I looked it up! That’s a whole new level of crazy! lol! Even though I am more of a Kdrama fan than a Kpop fan, I had fun reading this novella. Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. Omg! I really didn’t know something like this existed. I mean I am a big fan of kpop and also an avid reader. Mixing the two together and coming up with idea and the publishing is as novels! I thought it was only limited to fan fictions on Wattpad! Wow! Really can’t wait to get my hands on one.
