The change of seasons (while not a physical manifestation here on my island paradise) has launched me into various cleaning sprees. This week I tackled a long overdue sort of my YouTube watchlist. The results?? A BUNCH of great songs and MVs from the end of summer rush that shouldn’t be missed!! Ready to get caught up?! Let’s GO!!
THE BOYZ – ‘Passion Fruit’
It’s not a title track, but ‘Passion Fruit’ sits at the same table as ‘Lip Gloss’! High energy and fun, this performance video features a five-member unit. TBZ dancers have gathered to heat up the stage with their clean lines and smooth grooves!!
TREASURE – ‘Bona Bona’
Treasure’s recent release ‘Bona Bona’ plays with a mix of beat changes and alternating rhythms. This style can be hit-and-miss if the music isn’t mixed well for a cohesive flow. Thankfully Treasure nailed it — another win for this team!
NINE.i – ‘Turn It Off’
If you are a fan of full-on ‘80’s synth, this title track from NINE.i is absolutely for you!! The futuristic space-themed MV was the perfect pairing to capture the fun vibe of this song too!
Forestella – ‘Kool’
Is there nothing Forestella can’t do?!? I’ve been a big fan of this powerhouse crossover group’s theatrical stages and gorgeous four-part harmonies. However, this new song is a departure from their usual releases and proves that they can run with the Kpop boys without missing a beat!! They are the definition of Kool!
TRENDZ – ‘My Way’
Rookie group Trendz is making a way for themselves and showing off some great vocals in this title track from their newest album. While I most love the build-up of the pre-chorus, overall, the music shows depth with some nice layering and good flow!
BOYNEXTDOOR – ‘…But Sometimes’
BoyNextDoor are hitting all the right chords for me! This boogie-pop sound is fresh and fun! And the bright and funky MV matches the groovy feel they are conveying!
JO1 – ‘Trigger’
The mariachi trumpet intro was all I needed to hear to get hooked on this song from Japanese group JO1! I enjoyed their performance video version best — the perfect way to take in the high energy choreo!!
TFN – ‘Ice Cream’ ESP Ver.
T1419 recently rebranded to the name TFN, and they dropped a big treat for all their Spanish speaking fans! I’m super impressed with their multilingual talents and just love this fun bop!!
ONEUS – ‘Baila Conmigo’
ONEUS is back!! In their first album since member RAVN left the group, this title track features a spicy, Latin-inspired flavor woven into their signature sound. Definitely adding this to one to the regular playlist!!
BDC – ‘Rest’
While not a well known group, trio BDC has been performing the last four years together, but at the end of August they officially announced they were disbanding. As a parting gift to their fans, they released this, their farewell song. Best wishes to these members as they pursue other endeavors in the future.
