I am sending good karma to whoever helped the Chinese decide that they wanted to improve their drama making quality over the last couple years. Thanks to pre-production and deep financial pockets, everything coming our way from China looks amazing. This includes the upcoming historical drama The Princess Wei Young which is set to air in early 2017.
Now we just have to continue our nightly prayers that the story is as engaging as the beautiful visuals. I personally love a good over the top palace makjangfest so this seems to be right up my alley. I especially love Chinese palace dramas because they don’t hold back on the crazy and try to make everyone have an ethical transformation by the end. There is just something so exciting about not knowing if you are going to have a happy ending or not. For me, I am satisfied either way as long as I get a good story all the way to the end.
SYNOPSIS:
The Northern Wei Dynasty was obliterated one night leaving behind the kindhearted Princess Feng Xin Er as an orphan. Although she escapes death, she accidentally enters her enemy’s territory and she assumes the identity of Li Wei Yang, the daughter of a tutor. She suffers many hardships but eventually utilizes her wisdom and sense of justice to become a powerful woman as well as gaining a beautiful romance.
I’ve been reading the (very slowly) in-translation of this novel and now, all I want to know is which guy character does Vanness Wu play? I still haven’t figured this out yet.( I must confess a certain love of braided-manes-of-glory – possibly one of my favorite parts of Empress Ki was when all the Mongols were hanging around.)
I really enjoy that look as well 😉
Just gorgeous. I love the rich coloring palate they often use in their historical dramas.
Holy Toledo!
Oh my goodness…I can’t wait to see this..thanks for posting this amazing colorful action pack trailer.
