Autumn is coming and things are getting serious, drama fans! We have everything from rookie police officers to melodramatic rich people to Joseon artists. You should come see if these August dramas are the perfect shows to fill your watchlist.

The Road: The Tragedy of One

August 4 

If you liked The Penthouse, then The Road might just be the drama you’re looking for next. Anchorman Baek Soo Hyun (Ji Jin Hee, Move to Heaven) and his wife Seo Eun Soo (Yoon Se Ah, Stranger 2) live in Royal the Hill, a community for the top 1%. Baek Soo Hyun has the trust of the people, but in reality he is cold and determined to get what he wants. Seo Eun Soo is the daughter of a conglomerate family, but her focus is on protecting her family. At the broadcast station is announcer Cha Seo Young (Kim Hye Eun, Graceful Friends), who has everything she could want, but isn’t satisfied.

Police University

August 9, Viki  

Yoo Dong Man (Cha Tae Hyun, Team Bulldog) was a detective for 20 years, covering violent crimes and cyber crimes among others, and is now a professor at the police university. He works together with his rookie students, including hacker Kang Sun Ho (Jin Young, My First First Love) and the very upright Oh Kang Hee (Krystal, Bride of Habaek), to solve a case.

The Second Husband

August 9  

Sun Hwa (Uhm Hyun Kyung, Hide and Seek) and Sang Hyeok (Han Ki Woong, Royal Gambler) have known each other since childhood, leading them to date and even have a child together. Tragedy strikes Sun Hwa when Sang Hyeok has an affair with Jae Kyung (Oh Seung Ah, Grand Prince) and Sun Hwa is falsely accused of murdering her child. Things start to change when she meets Jae Min (Cha Seo Won, Liver or Die), Jae Kyung’s stepbrother.

Sparks fly when a love triangle forms between former lovers Ha Song Yi (Bang Min Ah, Beautiful Gong Shim) and Park Do Gyeom (Kwon Hwa Woon, Mouse), who pose as a couple to claim a free trip, and their trip guide, Seo Ji Kang (An Woo Yeon, Scripting Your Destiny), who finds himself attracted to Song Yi.

Flying Butterflies

August 23 

Gi Bbeum (Kim Hyang Gi, Moment at Eighteen) works at Fly High Butterfly, a hair salon, with three other interns, but has a hard time dealing with the customers. Gwang Soo (Choi Daniel, Ghost Detective) is an enthusiastic hair stylist at Fly High Butterfly.

Red Sky

August 23, Viki 

Hong Cheon Ki (Kim Yoo Jung, Backstreet Rookie) is a genius Joseon-era painter, and selected to be the first female artist of the Dohwaseo (Korean Royal Academy of Painting). She meets Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo Seop, Abyss), a blind officer at Seowoongwan, and they find their paths crossing again and again.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha

August 28 

Dentist Yoon Hye Jin (Shin Min Ah, Chief of Staff) ends up moving to the seaside village of Gongjin, where she meets Hong Du Sik (Kim Seon Ho, Start Up), an unemployed man who always seems busy, and who the entire village calls Chief Hong. Yoon Hye Jin becomes determined to learn more about him.
