This week’s kpop MVs are all about dreams and dreaming, even the last one, which proves I’ve been living under a rock and not dreaming big enough myself! Come see what kind of dreams our artists have been having – maybe you’ll find your own.
Suzy – “Satellite”
What a departure for Suzy! “Satellite” is full of rock riffs with distorted EDM layers, which create a wistful sound with a harder edge – definitely outside of Suzy’s normal repertoire. The MV strongly reminds me of those dreams where I’m running down endless hallways, not sure where I’m going or what I’m looking for.
Wonho – “Eye on You”
Y’know, I don’t think Wonho ever fails to deliver. Even in this MV, with its minimal use of color, has stunning cinematography and makes for a very visually mesmerizing experience. I think Wonho dreams of being a werewolf, but I’ll let you decide that for yourself.
Rothy – “Believe”
Rothy has been around since 2017, and you might know her voice from the OSTs for Jirisan or The Beauty Inside. I love her solid, grounded voice in this new solo work, and the MV has a dreamy quality to it that immediately relaxes me.
Billie – “GingaMingaYo”
Billie is a new group – they just debuted last November – and I am loving their concept already. They feel fun, fresh, and authentic. The MV is clearly a product of a brightly colored fever dream, especially the one-eyed rabbit towards the end, but it’s fun to watch and the girls are clearly enjoying themselves.
THROWBACK TRACK: Yoonmirae – “Black Happiness”
Y’all, I have been living under a rock. I didn’t know Yoonmirae existed until I was introduced to her a few weeks ago, but I’m glad I do now! She’s got a queenly confidence to her, and her vulnerability and authenticity make her performance SO strong – she’s a dream to watch!
