Kmuse’s Book Review (November 11, 2022)

I read a lot of variety this week and there is a little bit of something for everyone. Come check out my weekly recommendations and see what great books there are available to read.

Looking for action with a side of action?

No Plan B by Lee Child, Andrew Child

No Plan B is my first Lee Child novel. I have been meaning to read one since watching the new Reacher TV series, and I was not disappointed. No Plan B was full of Jack Reacher kicking butt and righting wrongs. I loved how it was exactly what I was expecting. Yes, a little formulaic, but sometimes that is the comfort read one wants. I give No Plan B 4/5 stars since I was thoroughly entertained.

If you want some exotic travel romance.

Tripwrecked by A. Poland

Aiden and Finn were such a fun couple, and I loved their whirlwind romance. The author kept the pace going with a lot of great fluff mixed with the real-life issue of living in different parts of the world. Often books don’t delve into issues involved with long-distance limitations, but I felt it worked well in Tripwrecked. It was just enough of a hurdle to create angst without feeling forced. There were a lot of swoony moments, and I give Tripwrecked 4/5 stars.

Historic fiction at its best

The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles

I was a huge fan of Towles’s writing style, and A Gentleman in Moscow is one of my favorite novels. So I was hoping the magic could be reproduced in his latest work. While different, The Lincoln Highway weaved its magic and took me on a journey of discovery of 1950s America. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a small glimpse into another time.
