SUMMER IS HERE! These kpop beats are perfect for listening to with the car windows rolled down, dancing at every stoplight. Tell me what keeps your feet tapping while you listen to this week’s Top 5 kpop MVs!
Seventeen – “Hot”
Seventeen got serious on us! “Hot” is a departure from Seventeen’s “Left & Right” days, but in a very good way. This summer bop evokes all kinds of heat, and Seventeen’s skilled vocals and sharp moves make this modern MV very, very watchable. Don’t blink, or you might miss the awesome steampunk wings or one of the idols dancing with a skeleton!
NCT Dream – “Beatbox”
THIS IS SUMMER. Lazy days on the streets, hanging out with your friends, dancing and beatboxing and just getting into the groove – doesn’t that speak summer to everyone?? “Beatbox” is totally listenable, and I dare you not to dance in your car while you listen to it.
Jeong Eun Ji – “Meet him among them”
Eunji’s cover of this Lee Sun Hee classic is evocative and showcases her voice beautifully. This memorable ballad is a great way to wind down after a long summer day.
Moon Sujin – “Right Back” feat. Tabber
Moon Sujin’s voice has just enough grit to it to make it interesting, and it grabbed my ears from the very first note. I wasn’t sure about Tabber until he got into the meat of the rap, and then I was sold. (Feel like you recognize Sujin’s voice? You may have heard her singing “It’s Up to You” from the Business Proposal OST!)
BoA – “The Greatest”
Given the length and longevity of her career, “The Greatest” is EXACTLY the right song for BoA. I’m not sure she’s ever slowed down, and I’m here for every minute of it!
BONUS TRACK: “That That” Animated MV by MarianneDraws
I absolutely adore MarianneDraws’ work! She does a great job of highlighting the best part of the MVs and adding inside jokes, like the audio from PSY cracking up at SUGA’s name-dropping portion of “That That”. It’s so much fun to watch!
