Flagship groups like Super Junior are leading the way in kpop, showing what our idols can do after they finish their military service, and new groups like TO1 are showing off what a little rebranding can do for their sound. Come check out this week’s top MVs to see what I mean!
Super Junior D&E – “Zero”
The old guys still have it! LOL. (I’m older than they are, so please oh please take that as a joke.) This subunit bop is a lot of fun to listen to.
Leo – “I’m Still Here”
VIXX’s Leo has this new soulful solo that hits me right in the feels. The stripped-down MV showcases just how excellent his voice is all by itself — no need for complicated choreography or bright colors for this one.
ONEUS – “Luna”
SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS MV. The sets are astounding, the modernized hanboks are beautiful, and the whole thing is just amazing. I love that Oneus is adopting a traditional/modern fusion during this era — I love their creativity.
B.I – “Cosmos”
B.I’s solo efforts after leaving iKON have been very listenable. “Numb” is on frequent repeat for me, and “Cosmos” will probably be the same, even though they’re polar opposites. Enjoy B.I’s duality!
TO1 – “No More X”
In the same genre as Monsta X and Stray Kids, the TO1 rookies are busting out of the gate with a new name (formerly they were TOO) and a strong, compelling song.
BONUS TRACK: Jin – “Yours” (Jirisan OST)
“Yours” is sweet and thoughtful — perfectly Jin — and brings out emotions I wouldn’t have initially considered for Jirisan.
You’ve got my picks, music fans. Now I want to know — what are you listening to this week?
Until the next comeback, I remain —
