This week’s MVs took me off the beaten path in the best way possible. I found some unique voices and dreamy songs that really spoke to me, and I highly recommend giving these hidden gems a listen!
Luminous – “All Eyes Down”
One of the first things to capture my attention in Luminous’ MV was the blend of voices that weren’t as high or breathy as a lot of rookie groups lately. In addition, we have smooth, melodic harmonies paired with the deep bass beat, which really is my kryptonite, and I just HAD to share.
Brown Tigger – “Same Tomorrow”
The stripped down instrumentals of “Same Tomorrow” pair beautifully with Brown Tigger’s unusual voice, making for a fascinating listening experience. The wide open skies of the MV make the song sound like a call across the wilderness, and the cello solo was a deft touch. I’m really, really liking it!
Lee Jin Ah – “Rum Pum Pum”
The childlike opening to this song doesn’t really do justice to the breezy, jazzy orchestral number it turns into. I wasn’t sure about this song at first, and I had never heard of Lee Jin Ah, but by the end I was loving it. Check it out and see if it agrees with you too.
IU, Kang Seungwon – “Mother Nature”
Is there anyone who doesn’t recognize IU’s voice? This dreamy ballad was made for her, and the simply illustrated MV and straightforward orchestra parts make it feel like it would be at home on a golden age Disney soundtrack.
ATEEZ – “Don’t Stop”
So this isn’t an MV, but a song release. Being ATINY, I had to include it anyway! I love the fresh sound that still carries the ATEEZ hallmarks, including Song Mingi’s very distinctive voice on his raps.
BONUS TRACK: ThatCelloGuy – Faure’s “Pavane”
The best part of Do You Like Brahms? was discovering Faure’s “Pavane.” This cover by ThatCelloGuy, using TWELVE cellos, is rich and deep and beautiful and truly deserves a listen. Absolutely masterful.
